Rho Adds Card Payments to Its Invoicing Platform
Rho has introduced card payment functionality for eligible customers using Rho Invoicing, extending the payment methods available directly through its invoicing platform.
Businesses can now receive:
- Credit card payments
- Debit card payments
- Google Pay payments
- ACH payments
- Domestic wire payments
- International wire payments
The new card functionality is being rolled out to eligible Rho Invoicing customers and is designed to operate within the existing Rho financial environment rather than requiring businesses to establish a separate merchant account or use another dashboard.
How Invoice Card Payments Work
For the customer paying an invoice, the process is designed to take place directly from the invoice.
The payer:
- Opens the invoice.
- Enters card information.
- Completes payment through the available checkout experience.
Card payments carry a 2.9% processing fee plus $0.30 per transaction. The fee is paid by the business issuing the invoice and is deducted from the payment before the funds are deposited into its account.
Inbound ACH and wire payments remain free, and the payer does not receive a surcharge at checkout.
Card payments are available for USD-denominated invoices and carry a default $10,000 daily limit across all invoices issued by a business. Rho can raise the limit upon request.
Payment Timing and Initial Deposit Review
An invoice is considered paid once the payout has been initiated. However, card proceeds do not arrive instantly and instead follow applicable card-network settlement timelines.
For a business’s first card payment, the deposit may take up to two weeks while Stripe completes its initial review.
This initial review is separate from the normal timing associated with subsequent card payment processing.
Rho Invoicing Features
Rho Invoicing remains free for Rho customers, with card processing fees being the applicable charge for card transactions.
The invoicing platform supports:
- Up to 100 line items per invoice
- Per-line sales tax
- Recurring billing
- Payment matching
- Fully white-labeled invoice templates
- Business branding instead of Rho branding
- Virtual account numbers that help keep a business’s actual bank details private
Rho also provides a direct integration with QuickBooks Online. Invoices synchronize into QuickBooks Online as accounts receivable, helping maintain accurate AR aging without requiring duplicate data entry.
One Financial Account for Banking and Payments
Card payment acceptance operates through the same Rho account businesses already use for other financial functions.
The account can also support:
- Banking
- Corporate cards
- Bill pay
- Invoicing
Rho’s approach is intended to keep invoice collection within the existing financial stack, eliminating the need for a separate merchant account, additional dashboard, or another login specifically for card acceptance.
Availability and Eligibility
The card payment functionality is currently limited to eligible Rho Invoicing customers and applies to USD-denominated invoices.
Businesses seeking access must complete Stripe’s verification process. Availability is also subject to third-party underwriting and approval, and approval is not guaranteed.
Rho directs customers to its guidance on how to accept credit card payments with Rho Invoicing for additional information.
Card Payment Technology and Disclosures
Rho’s card payment functionality on Invoicing—including credit card, debit card, and Google Pay options—is powered by Stripe, Inc.
